Network measurement for determining the mean flow velocity.

The product range from Kottonau and our partners (mainly from the EU area) consists of countless product families and thousands of product variants. We are happy to assist you in selecting a suitable option.

In pipelines, flow is not always uniform. The installation of pipe bends, valves, and sliders significantly disrupts it. Also, insufficient inlet and outlet distances lead to asymmetric flows. Under such unfavorable conditions, an average flow velocity is determined. The stationary measuring probe is later installed where the flow corresponds to the mean flow velocity.

Mobile grid measurements can accurately calculate an average flow velocity. The measurement cross-section is divided into equal areas, and the flow in each area is measured. This results in the average flow velocity (the sum of all recorded velocities divided by the number of measurements).

In power plants, exhaust gas cleaning systems, the chemical industry, refineries, pipelines, and building ventilation systems, asymmetric flows occur. Grid measurements are necessary to obtain precise measurement results despite these conditions.

With the ZS25 (ZG 1) vane sensor, you can quickly and easily conduct flow velocity measurements. It measures speeds (optionally also flow direction and temperature) between 0.03 and 10 m/s in liquids at temperatures ranging from -40 to 500°C (depending on the model).

It is suitable for mobile measurements when used in conjunction with the Flowtherm NT.2 handheld device, even in low water levels. The immersion probe has a probe diameter of 25mm and is extendable. It is available in aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium versions.

The Flowtherm NT.2 handheld device can accommodate up to three different sensors, and the measurements from these sensors can be simultaneously displayed and recorded. The inputs are compatible with all flow sensors from Höntzsch (FA, TA, VA). Additionally, Pt100 and analog sensors with 4-20 mA or 0-10 V measurement signals can be connected.

For example, it is often beneficial to connect a temperature sensor and measure the temperature along with flow velocity. The Flowtherm NT.2 handheld device can store up to 40,000 measurement values, which you can transfer to your computer for data analysis (see also HLOG).
